Conversations

Start, continue, and organize your work in Almanac.

Start and organize conversations

Start a conversation

Enter a question, instruction, or goal in the composer, then send it. Almanac uses the conversation as context, so follow-up messages can refer to what came before.

To begin a new conversation, select New conversation in the sidebar or press Shift-Command-O.

Keep conversations focused

Start a new conversation when your work moves to a different topic. A focused thread gives Almanac the most relevant context for the task.

Compact a long conversation

Type /compact to summarize earlier messages and make room in the context window. See Models, reasoning, and context.

Open a side conversation

Type /btw to explore a related question without changing the main thread. The side conversation opens in the right panel with the current context.

Return to earlier work

Find a conversation

Conversations appear in the sidebar with the most recent first. Press Command-K to search by title or content.

When Search and reference conversations is on, Almanac can also find relevant earlier work for you. See Personalization.

Explore another direction

Edit an earlier message and send it again to create a new branch. Almanac preserves the original conversation.
