Start with the patient selected

Almanac opens with the patient whose chart you launched it from, so your first question can focus on their care.

Read-only by design

Almanac can retrieve the chart information available to you. It can’t write notes, orders, or other information back to the record.

Your EHR access carries over

You sign in through your organization. Almanac can retrieve only the information your existing EHR permissions allow.

Quickstart

Get started from your EHR

Connect your EHR once, then launch Almanac from a patient’s chart.

EHR connections are available with Almanac Enterprise and must be enabled by your organization.

  1. Connect your EHR

Go to Settings > Electronic Health Record, choose your system, and enter the FHIR endpoint provided by your IT team. Sign in with your own credentials to connect your existing EHR access.

  2. Open Almanac from a patient’s chart

In your EHR, open the patient’s chart, then select Almanac. A new conversation opens with that patient selected and their available chart context in place.

You can also press Command-K in Almanac, select Search your EHR, then search by medical record number or by name and date of birth. See Patients.

  3. Ask about the patient

Begin with the clinical question. You don’t need to paste or restate information already available in the chart.

Given this patient’s history and current medications, which of these three treatment options would you rule out, and why?

  4. Review what Almanac used

Open Work beneath the answer to see which chart information, literature, calculators, and other tools contributed to the response. See Clinical safety.

Work from the chart when…

The question concerns this patient

Ask directly and let Almanac retrieve the relevant information available in the record.

You’re in the middle of a visit

Keep Almanac beside the chart already on screen and work without moving to another device.

You need to verify the answer

Review the chart information and sources Almanac used beneath the response.

Several people share a workstation

Each person signs in with their own credentials, so EHR access and patient conversations remain separate.
